YOSHIKI ANNOUNCES NEW CLASSICAL ALBUM YOSHIKI CLASSICAL OUT AUGUST 27th VIA DIGITAL RETAILERS

Yoshiki, one of Asia’s most influential musical artist and biggest rock icon, is proud to announce the release of his new classical album Yoshiki Classical. Set for an August 27th digital release, Yoshiki Classical sees collaborations between Yoshiki and legendary Beatles producer Sir George Martin, the London Philharmonic Orchestra, the Tokyo City Philharmonic Orchestra and the Quartet San Francisco. The end result is a beautiful symphonic collection driven by soaring strings, smart piano pieces and the melodic style of Yoshiki’s earlier work. Physical releaseof Yoshiki Classical will be September 24th.

Although known as the founder of Japan’s biggest rock band X Japan and credited as the catalyst for the flamboyant visual kei rock sub-genre, Yoshiki is a world-renowned classically trained multi-instrumentalist/composer/musician.

Yoshiki has made an impressive mark within the classical genre. Yoshiki’s talent has seen him compose the theme song for 2012 Golden Globe Awards, which is available in 111 countries. He’s also composed and performed an orchestral piece/piano concerto to commemorate the Japanese Emperor’s 10th anniversary of his reign, along with the theme for the World Expo in Japan.

With Yoshiki Classical and his widely known classical compositions, Yoshiki is continuing to bring and illuminate the beauty in classical music to the rock audience.

Yoshiki’s double album “Yoshiki Presents Eternal Melody” remains one of Japan’s top-selling classical albums.

Yoshiki says, “I began taking piano lessons and music theory at age four, and became interested in classical works by Beethoven and Schubert. In elementary school, I played the trumpet in the brass band, and around age ten started composing songs for piano. I’ve been writing Classical music ever since. Needless to say, Classical music has been a major influence in my musical career including X Japan. I’m so excited to finally share my classical compositions that are very close to my heart with my fans around the world.”

Yoshiki is a true renaissance man. Beyond music, which includes selling 30 million singles and albums combined, and a sold-out world tour, Yoshiki has been celebrated in many unique ways. Only highlighting a few; Comic book legend Stan Lee created the music superhero comic book series “Blood Red Dragon” based on Yoshiki. Madame Tussaud created and unveiled the Yoshiki wax figure. Additionally, Yoshiki has his own clothing and jewelry line, not to mention his own branded Yoshiki VISA Card and a line of wine called “Y by Yoshiki.” And for the first time in history, a Hello Kitty product line was named after a person – Yoshikitty.

In July 2010, Yoshiki launched the Yoshiki Foundation America (YFA), 501(c)(3), a California non-profit, which has already helped organizations including The Japanese Red Cross Society, The Grammy Foundation, Make-a-Wish, and St. Vincent Meals on Wheels. YFA made a significant contribution to those who were affected by the devastating March 2011 earthquake in Japan.

All profits from the sales of the Golden Globes Theme song will be donated to charities chosen by The Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) through YFA. In addition, proceeds from the composition “Anniversary” will be donated to the relief of Japanese earthquake victims through YFA.
